Our Summer Residence

Staying in an international student residence allows you to live independently in the UK and meet other students. The residence is only available in the summer months of June to August (dates below) for students aged 18+. Capital School of English uses university halls of residence which are ideally set up for students from around the world.

Residential Overview

Your Room

All rooms are private (not shared with another person or student) with a single bed and ensuite (private bathroom).

All rooms are within a shared flat of 4–8 other rooms. All flats have fully fitted shared kitchens and dining spaces to eat, relax and socialise.

Availability

Residential accommodation is only available from 29/06/2025 to 24/08/2025 and is booked on a weekly basis (Sunday – Sunday).

Check-in is from 15:00 (3pm) Sunday.

Check-out is before 10:00 (10am) Sunday.

Meals

The Residence is self-catering (meals are not included). You have a shared kitchen in your flat with basic cooking utensils and cutlery.

Laundry

There are laundry facilities available on-site for you to wash your clothes (do your laundry). You must pay to use the washing machines and dryers (approximately £4-5 per load/wash).

Rooms are cleaned weekly by professional cleaners. They will change your towels and bed linen (sheets, pillowcase and duvet cover) every week.

Prices quoted are per week.

All prices are in Pound Sterling (£GBP). The price includes:

All bills (electricity, gas and water), WiFi, pillows and bed linen (sheets, pillowcase and duvet cover), towels, basic cooking utensils, cutlery, kettle, toaster, microwave, and a weekly cleaning service.

The price does not include meals or laundry (washing your clothes).

Additional Information

Capital School of English only provides accommodation while you are studying on a course at Capital School of English.

Students should request/book residential accommodation as early as possible. It is subject to availability, and can be busy.

Accommodation must be paid in full and in advance for the duration of the stay to guarantee accommodation.

Students staying in our Town Centre Residence may need a bus pass to travel to the school.

You must follow the Code of Conduct (Rules) for living in Residence.

All rooms are within a shared cluster flat of 4–8 other rooms. Other students from Capital School of English will live in the other rooms.

You may also share the building with students from another school or university students.

What do I need to bring?

You only need to bring your clothes, towel for the beach, study materials, electronic devices and anything else you would pack for a trip away. You do not need to bring anything for cooking or sleeping in, etc. The price includes:

  • Pillows and bed linen (sheets, pillowcase and duvet cover)

  • Kettle
  • Toaster
  • Microwave
  • Basic cooking utensils
  • Weekly cleaning service

Do I need to clean my room/the flat?

  • You must keep your room and the flat clean and tidy.
  • Capital School of English and the residence will inspect your room and flat to check that it is clean and tidy, and everything is working. If it does not meet standards of cleanliness, cleaners will have to deep clean it. You have to pay extra for this.
  • Cleaners will clean your room, ensuite and flat every week.

Can I smoke/vape in my room/flat?

No. Smoking or vaping is not permitted. You must smoke/vape in the designated smoking areas.

Can my friend (guest) stay in my accommodation with me?

No. Only Capital School of English students can stay in the residence.

You can have guests visit you during the day (guests are not allowed after 21:00 (9pm)). When they arrive they must sign in to the building and follow the rules for guests. When they leave they must sign out. They must leave before 21:00 (9pm).

We want you to enjoy yourselves during your stay. If you have a party in your flat, respect the other students in your flat. It is recommended that you use the common rooms to have get-togethers. See FAQ about visitors (above).

You must report any fault to Capital School of English who will organise for it to be fixed.

You must do your own washing/laundry. There are on-site laundry facilities.

You do not need to wash your bed linen or towels. These are changed every week.

Who checks the residence?

Capital School of English regularly visits and inspects the residence (flats and rooms). We check to make sure that you have a comfortable living environment, with a good level of cleanliness, heating and lighting.

The residence has smoke alarms and a fire risk assessment.

If you want to change to homestay, Capital School of English can organise a homestay.

I really like staying with my homestay family because I can practice my English with spontaneous conversations. It really helps me to improve my English.
