Before You Travel & Your First Day

We want to make sure you arrive with us safely. Here is some useful information to help make your journey to us more relaxing.

  • 1.

Inform the school or your agency of your flight number and travel information. Please make sure you contact our Emergency Telephone number if your travel plans change on the day.

Check you have all your travel documents including an up to date passport and/or Travel ID.

Check the weather for your arrival into the UK and pack clothes for the time of year you are travelling.

Make sure you can easily identify your own luggage.

  • 2.

On arrival at the airport you will go through Immigration. It is important you have your travel documents including passport and school letter. Answer any questions asked by the Immigration Officer.  Typical questions include: “Which town are you studying in?” or “Where will you be staying in Bournemouth?”

Once through Immigration collect your luggage.  Make sure you have the correct luggage.

    Go into the arrivals hall.

  • 3.

If you have ordered a transfer with the school, follow the instructions on your airport letter explaining where to find your driver – do not leave the airport

If you are taking a National Express Coach to Bournemouth follow the signs for the National Express Coach station.

If you are taking a National Express Coach to Bournemouth please tell the driver that you are going to Bournemouth Travel Interchange.

  • 4.

Once at Bournemouth Travel Interchange you will need to take a local yellow taxi.

Show the driver the address of your homestay provider or residence. The cost to take a taxi to all of the accommodation provided by Capital School of English will be between £6-£12. Make sure you have cash to pay for the taxi.

All taxi’s in Bournemouth use a meter – they charge per mile or per second waiting.  If you are arriving after 12am (midnight) the charges increase considerably.

  • 5.

On arrival at the accommodation you have chosen you will be met by your homestay provider or our residential manager and shown around the accommodation.  They will ask to see your ID and will take a copy for their records.

The first few hours are very important.  Please make sure you exchange telephone numbers with your homestay provider, understand the meal times, shower times and how to get to the school on the first day.
