Homestay Accommodation

What is homestay accommodation?
It means to be hosted with an English family, providing a homely atmosphere in a safe and secure environment. The accommodation comprises a single or a twin room on a half board basis with breakfast and evening meal Monday to Sunday and additional light lunch at weekends.

Most students choose homestay family accommodation because it allows them to get to know a new culture and provides the best opportunity to practise the English language.
Single rooms are available all year round; twin rooms are also available, primarily in the summer, at other times of the year they are generally used only by request, for example, if you come with a friend, family or with an organised group.

Some families can host up to three adults or four junior students sharing the house at one time. This type of accommodation is classified as a Homestay and the student(s) will have more regular and direct contact with the hosts.

When the student stays in a larger household, with more than four students at one time, the host family arrangement will be called a Private Home. At Capital School of English, we ask our families, whether they are homestay or private home, to give the same quality of service and contact to our students.

Please note that when completing your enrolment form you should inform the school of any requirements you might have, for example, special diets, dislike of pets, allergies, etc. This information is very important for us as it will help us to select the appropriate hosts for you.

When can I arrive?
You should plan to arrive on a Saturday or Sunday before your course starts and depart on a Saturday or Sunday after your course finishes. Arrival details should be provided to the school in advance.

Note: During the busy Summer Term accommodation is arranged on a Sunday to Sunday basis only - any requirements outside of this will need to be made with the School by arrangement and could incur additional charges

Can I change my homestay family accommodation?
You can change your accommodation under special circumstances, you must give at least one week’s notice to the Accommodation Officer in order for us to try and find a suitable alternative (a charge may be made according to the circumstances).

What happens if I take a break?
If you are a long-stay student and you decide to take a holiday you will have to pay a ‘Holiday Retainer Fee’ to keep your room available.

How much will it cost?
The fees vary according to the accommodation package you choose and the time of the year.
